Description
Austro's name is related to the Germanic words for 'shining' and 'east'. She was a goddess of springtime and new beginnings, and celebrated as the goddess of youth and purity. She was also connected to the pagan Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre; much of Austro's symbolism, such as eggs and hares, are still used in European Easter celebrations today. Austro was said to have lights carried by rabbits before her; she brought the dawn as a new beginning, and spring renewal after the dark of winter. It is easy to see why she was considered a joyous goddess.
